Four unidentified men had barged into the office of Shiv Sena city president Arvind Walekar alias Balu Walekar's office and shot at him, killing his bodyguard at the spot.

One of the assailants too, died in the firing while two others were injured.

Walekar lodged a complaint at Shivaji Nagar Police Station, in which he named four persons - Gulab Karanjule, former president, Ambernath municipal council and Shiv Sena leader, Ramesh Bhagat alias Mama (relative of Gulab Karanjule), Shyam Gaikwad, secretary, Republican Party of India, and Kabir Gaikwad (son of Naresh Gaikwad).

Walekar said, "My political and personal enmity with Shyam Gaikwad and Gulab Karanjule is well known. I have given names of those whom I suspect could be behind this shootout."

"Five teams are working on this case and we have so far questioned 25 people in connection with the shooutout," he added.
