Senior journalist Sarat Chandra Bindhani passed away in Rourkela on Sunday due to old age.

Bindhani, in his eighties, started his journalistic carrer in 1958 from Rourkela. He represented The Statesman and The Hindustan Standard for several years.

He is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters.
Bindhani was the founder president of Rourkela Press Club and a life member of the Orissa Union of Journalists.
His body was cremated at Ved Vyas today in the presence of large number of well wishers, journalists and prominent citizens.
Members of journalist organisations like the Press Club, Media Club, and Sundargarh Journalists' Association condoled his death.
