THE CLASS XI students of St Joseph’s Convent School Idgah Hills bade fond farewell to the outgoing students of Class XII at a grand function held at the school premises. The chief guest on this occasion was Ms Anne Panag, wife of Lt. General Panag. The judges for the `Lady of the Eve’ were HT-PACE manager Alpana Mishra, Disha School director Rita Lalwani and Maninder Kalra.
The principal Sr. Francis Joseph extended them a floral welcome. The function commenced with a welcome song ‘Welcome dear SJC’s pride’ wherein the outgoing students were wished a bright and prosperous future.
Next came comedies `Laughter champions’, and ‘Gudgudati yaadon ke rang, SJC ke sang’, which were great success. The parody `Bhadak bhadak’ highlighted the hard work of students as they cope with various subjects and encouraged them to try their best.
There was a dance `Nach baliye’, a fusion of rhythm and movement. This was followed by the bhangra dance, ‘Rang de Basanti’ and `Aari –aari’.
The folk dances, presented by the students clad in colourful lungis and kurtas, reflected the vibrancy and enthusiasm of Punjab.
The highlight of the evening was the selection of the ‘Lady of the Eve’. The Class XII students cat-walked in their eye-catching sarees. After the various elimination rounds, Rasleen Gulati was chosen the ‘Lady of the Eve’ and Snehal Sharma was the runner up. The elimination rounds were done on the basis of ramp walking, general awareness round, school awareness round and situational questions.
Deepshikha Sonpar bagged the Miss St. Joseph’s Convent title whereas Mansi Verma was the runner up. Sonam Kala was the Miss Simplicity, Nandita Mathur was awarded the title of Miss Lovable whereas Nitha Thampi was awarded Miss Hardworking. Miss Punctuality was given to seven students.

{{/usCountry}}The Grand Finale `Potter’s Wheel’ revealed the SJC’s philosophy of holistic education – the moulding of the child (raw clay) into a lustrous kalash (pot), which is filled with drops of wisdom and inspiration, studded with gems of values.
The Principal was invited on the stage and she lit each student’s candle, symbolizing that there would be the sparkle of knowledge and happiness in each one’s life.
The Principal Sr. Francis Joseph, in her speech, called upon the students to move towards new and broader horizons, carrying souvenirs of the past. Finally deputy Prime Minister of the school proposed the vote of thanks.
