The benchmark Sensex crashed by over 294 points in pre-close trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday on frantic selling by foreign funds and domestic players.

The 30-share sensitive index, which experienced a hefty fall of 115 points on Monday, plunged by 294.30 points at 11,621.90, a few minutes before trading closed.

Barring HDFC Bank, all other index related shares were down.
The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also entered the weak orbit and surrendered 115.35 points at 3,433.55. The Nifty had lost about 24.15 points on Monday.
