Sensex gains 100 points in morning trading

The stock markets on Wednesday showed signs of a positive turnaround gaining 100 points during morning trading while mid-cap and small-cap stocks attracted investors attention.

Bouncing back from the initial low of 9,752.65, the Bombay Stock Exchange 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) later surged by 101.35 at 9923.87 at 11 am. Similarly, National Stock Exchange index nifty rose by 22.15 at 2883.80.

Investors seemed to have shifted their focus to small cap and mid cap stocks since Tuesday.

The BSE small-cap index jumped by 148.80 points to 5,262.46 from previous close of 5,113.66 and the Mid-cap index by 100.44 points to 4,312.13 from 4,211.69 on Tuesday.

Blue chips like ACC, Bajaj Auto, BHEL, Dr Reddy's Lab, ICICI Bank, L&T, Tata steel, RIL, TCS Ltd, Satyam Computer and Wipro were quoted remarkably up on fresh buying support.
