Sensex gains 274 pts at mid session

The recovery was due to renewed buying by foreign and domestic funds in blue-chip stocks.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Wednesday again resumed its upward climb, gaining 274 points at mid session on active buying by funds in blue-chip stocks.

The BSE Sensex, which lost 392 points in the last three trading sessions, bounced back by 273.68 points at 11,910.46 at 1300 hrs.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty shot up by 82 points at 3544.65.

Reliance Industries, which carries the heaviest weight on the Sensex, gained Rs 24.10 to touch Rs.976.85 ahead of working results to be announced tomorrow. Second-heaviest Infosys also gained Rs.92 to Rs.3239.90. BHEL also surged by Rs.55.30 to Rs.2386.40.

Besides, auto stocks led by Maruti continued their support to the trading sentiment, ahead of announcement of working results by the company today.

Among the 30 index shares on the Sensex, two -- Larsen and Toubro and Ranbaxy -- were down while all others traded significantly higher.
