Sensex gains 69 points in early trade

Sustained buying of funds in blue-chip stocks after firm trend in Asian markets helped the steep rally. Check how the Sensex behaves

The BSE benchmark Sensex gained over 69 points in early trade on Monday on the back of sustained buying by funds in blue-chip stocks, triggered by firming Asian markets.

The 30-share index, Sensex, which rose by over 22 points on Friday, gained another 69.44 points at 13,772.77 in the first five minutes of trade.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty was also up by 24.10 points to trade at 3,974.95.

Major support came in from heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Reliance Energy, ACC, Grasim Industries, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Maruti Udyog, Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Reliance Communications, Tata Steel, Larsen and Toubro, TCS, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Ranbaxy Lab.
