The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share sensitive index opened strong at 10,320.59 and later spurted to 10,408.16, up by 181.36 points over previous close of 10,226.79.
TCS Ltd and a few other blue chip corporates announced impressive first quarter results.
Global markets also made a positive turnaround on the back of easing crude oil prices.
