Sensex up 181 pts in early trade

The BSE 30-share sensitive index opened strong at 10,320.59 and later spurted to 10,408.16.

Buoyed by better-than-expected Q1 earnings from major corporates coupled with encouraging global trend, the benchmark Sensex on Wednesday rallied smartly by 181 points to 10,408.16 in the initial ten minutes of trading.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share sensitive index opened strong at 10,320.59 and later spurted to 10,408.16, up by 181.36 points over previous close of 10,226.79.

TCS Ltd and a few other blue chip corporates announced impressive first quarter results.

Global markets also made a positive turnaround on the back of easing crude oil prices.
