CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said service to humanity is the supreme religion and dedication of life to the nation and the society is the greatest task.

He was speaking at Bhai Udhavdas Mehta Memorial Award function here today. Gita Mataji of Shri Maa Ashapura Darbar Bhopal and Bhopal Vishram Ghat Trustee Amar Chand Ajmera were conferred Bhai Udhavdas Mehta Memorial Award for their outstanding social services. They received letters of citation, shawl, Shriphal and Rs 21000 in cash. The award has been instituted by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation.

Addressing the gathering the CM said the State Government extended fullest cooperation to the dedicated institutions and individuals selflessly serving the society.

He said a number of steps have been taken for the welfare of people. Strict legal provisions had been proposed to check killing of cows.

Rajya Sabha Member Sushma Swaraj said service and donation had been a part of social custom in the country but the advent of western culture had made them an object of fashion and hypocrisy.

In Indian culture, these values were transferred naturally to the new generation. She paid tribute to late Udhav Das Mehta.
Ajmera and Gita Mataji in response to their honour said service to humanity was a process which continued without any expectation.
