The major surgeries were cancelled and even the most serious cases were turned away by the hospital staff indicating that it was the junior doctors who were actually managing the patients.

The Out Patient Department (OPD) also remained closed causing a lot of inconvenience to the patients.

With less than hundred patients remaining in the SRN Hospital most of them have been shifted to a common ward. Even the senior consultants and teachers reportedly leave the hospital after taking a 'formal' round of wards in the morning.

Meanwhile, the junior doctors and students have indicated that they were firm on their decision to continue the hunger strike until the government decides the basis of reservation. A large number of female students and undergraduates also joined the hunger strike to support the anti-quota demand. These included Anjali Srivastava, Upma Awasthi, Gunjan, Neha Agarwal, Kanchanlata, Chandan and Vineet Sehgal. The hunger strike was also participated by junior doctors Prateek, Ashish, Manoj Dubey and Sanchit Gupta.
