The 80-year-old man has never been out of step with the times. As the head of renowned Shangloo family veteran homoeopathic physician Dr GK Shangloo has continuously re-invented himself to provide best cure to the people suffering from chronic diseases. And yet he dedicates his success to God and people's faith in his ability.

"For over seven decades the Shangloo family is serving people by means of homoeopathy. My father Dr PN Shangloo established a homoeopathic clinic in 1928. He studied homoeopathy in Kolkata and was known for treating serious and chronic diseases. He always used to share his experiences with me due to which I was able to provide right medicine to the patients," recalled Dr Shangloo.
Dr Shangloo has cured thousands of patients suffering from kidney stones, gall stone, uterine fibroid, ovarian cyst and many surgery cases. "The most difficult case which I had successfully treated was a child suffering from a rare disease--osteogenesis imperfecta (a kind of osteoporosis of children having high mortality rate). The boy suffering from the disease came to me in 1993. He was very thin and undernourished. After the treatment not only he became completely cured but is leading a normal life now. He was also probably the first kid who was saved after the treatment," he added.
Acknowledging his work on osteogenesis imperfecta Open University of Srilanka awarded him 'Doctor of Science'. His research paper was published in Italy, England, Germany, France and national journals in India. He was also invited to read his research paper in several conferences in India and abroad.

" More research is needed to improve results in the gall bladder stone, uterine fibroid and cancer cases. In the case of Gall Bladder stone we receive only 60 per cent success and we need to do more work in this area," he pointed out.
Dr Shangloo also led several prestigious organisations and societies including Homoeopathy Scientific Society, Kashmiri Samaj and Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru Memorial Trust. When asked why so many homoeopathic doctors still stick to a trial and error treatment he said, "homoeopathy hits the disease at the right point provided the doctor has studied the signs and symptoms of the body and accurately diagnosed the disease. But in this fast age most of doctors do not give enough time to the patients and start medicines on the basis of superficial knowledge of symptoms. That is why I always ask my both sons who are practicing homoeopathy to give enough time to every patient. We also devote a lot of time in research work."
