To a question he said the administration was not working under any pressure and had clear instructions to take strict action against those spreading violence. He said, “We all have to live together so we should learn to live in peace and try and settle small disputes when they were still small.” He added that permanent steps would be taken in consultation with others to bring about a mechanism to resolve issues.

Denying that there was lack of force and police failure to act speedily, Kothari said that since incidents take place in so many places at one time, it might have appeared that there was lack of force. He said police had taken action against anti-socials in the recent past and over 900 people had been arrested under operation Dusta Daman.
