Bangladesh security forces captured seven more terrorists of the banned Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), including two top leaders, even as the US has lauded the government's drive against Islamic extremists.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday nabbed Salahuddin and Khaled Saifullah in overnight operations conducted simultaneously in Dhaka and Chittagong, the Daily Star reported.
With their arrests, all members of the JMB's highest policy-making body have been captured.
Top leaders of the JMB, Sheikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, were caught last month.
The outfit's military-wing chief Ataur Rahman Sunny, northern region chief Abdul Awal and Hafej Mohammad have also been detained.
US ambassador Patricia A Butenis lauded the government's crackdown against extremists when she called on Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Butenis noted that Bangladesh remained "with the international community" in campaign against terrorism and appreciated its role in this regard.
RAB sources said of the five JMB activists arrested along with Salahuddin from Colonelhat in Chittagong, three were 'ehsars' or suicide bombers.
The two others arrested are JMB's Chittagong and Comilla Division Commander Mizanur Rahman alias Shaon and his wife Sahela Santa.
The RAB personnel also recovered some important documents, materials and money.
