FLAG HOISTING and various cultural events will mark Republic Day celebrations in the city on Thursday.
Commissioner Dr Lalit Verma will unfurl the National Flag at the commissioner’s office at 8.30 am while DM Amrit Abhijat will participate in the R-Day function at the collectorate. Environment Minister Ujjwal Raman Singh will take salute at the parade at Police Lines at 9.30 am. A 25-km cycle race will be flagged off at Madan Mohan Malviya stadium at 6.30 am while freedom fighters will be felicitated by the DM and SDMs at the collectorate and tehsils, respectivelym, at 9 am. Prabhat Pheris will be taken out by various schools at 9 am and cultural programmes and competitions will be conducted at schools at 10 am.
North Central Railway general manager Budh Prakash will hoist the Tricolour at DSA ground at 9.30 am and inspect the guard of honour by RPF jawan and volunteers of Bharat Scouts and Guides. It will be followed by cultural programmes.
A seminar will be conducted at the Khadi Gramodyog exhibition at Magh Mela. Blankets will be distributed in slums.
Flag hoisting will be conducted at various village panchayats at 10 am. A free medical check-up camp will be conducted on January 30 at Beli Hospital for freedom fighters.
Likewise Prof KNS Yadava, V-C UP Rajarshi Tandon will hoist the Tricolour at the universitys’ main administrative building.
The Institution of Engineers (India) will be organising a flag hoisting ceremony at Engineers’ Bhawan at 10 am. Flag hoisting will be held at Allahabad University Union at 10.30 am.
Chief income tax commissioner VK Srivastav will be the chief guest at the celebrations at Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir where the event will start at 10.30 am. Flag hoisting will be held at GD Memorial Public School at 8.30 am.
