THE CITY police have launched an extensive hunt to nab the killers of middle-aged Laxmi Dhar, who was found brutally murdered at her Govind Garden flat in Aish Bagh on Tuesday night.
Half-a-dozen police teams have been constituted to work out the case, said CSP (Jehangirabad) O P Tripathi. Though no major clue has been found as yet, the police interrogated almost two dozen persons including the neighbours of the deceased and their family friends.
Also, the colleagues of her husband and son were interrogated. Meanwhile, the deceased’s last rites were conducted at the Subhash Vishram Ghat on Wednesday. The family has no relatives in the State.
Due to the bereavement to her husband and son, the police focused more on interrogating the neighbours. But nothing substantial has come up as yet. The brutality with which the woman was killed suggests extreme vengeance and the police are trying to find who could have any reason to kill the woman.
Also, the police are investigating if the family had any enmity in Punjabi Bagh where they earlier lived. The family had sold their house and shifted to this locality. The cause behind the shifting is also under investigation. The residents of the Punjabi Bagh were quizzed today. The police officials admit that despite the horrific nature of the crime they are groping in the dark but hope that the killers would be nabbed soon.
