Several TUs to join Central staff strike today

VARIOUS TRADE unions, including local trade organisations, will join a nationwide strike called by the Central Government Employees Coordination Committee on Thursday.

Each union has chalked out its own list of demands that would be disclosed to the government and administration during the strike.

Central Government Employees Coordination Committee, Indore unit secretary C L Sarrawat said that national, zonal, regional and divisional members of the committee would go on a strike in support of their 21 demands.

He said the demands included employment guarantee, reduction in prices, recruitment, ban on foreign investment etc. G D Meena said that memorandum including all demands would be handed over to concerned officials on the day of the strike. Postal Department, BSNL, Income Tax Department, Central Excise and various other government departments are also supporting the strike.

The other unions joining the strike include Madhya Pradesh Medical and Sales Representative’s Union, Indore City Trade Union Council, Madhya Pradesh Bank Employees Association, Indore Unit of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Indore Mill Mazdoor Sabha and Insurance Employees Union.
