The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Wednesday remanded Chhota Shakeel pointsman Anjum Adam Fajlani in police custody till December 5.
Fajlani's interrogation may well reveal new facets of the Bollywood-underworld nexus, uncovered by the Mumbai crime branch in its investigations into the making of the film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, that was allegedly financed by Shakeel.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dhananjay Kamlakar said Fajlani might name some more sympathisers of the Shakeel gang in Bollywood.
"Fajlani is privy to several secret links between Bollywood personalities and Shakeel," a senior crime branch officer said.
Fajlani, 48, was deported from Dubai on Tuesday. He is on the police's "wanted list" in the case in which film producers Bharat Shah and Nazim Rizvi have already been convicted.
The police had alleged that Fajlani, at the instance of Shakeel, allegedly threatened Salman Khan to reduce his remuneration for working in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. Salman Khan and Nazim Rizvi have already recorded their statements before the police.
Asked if Salman would be summoned for recording his statement again following Fajlani's arrest in the case, Kamlakar said: "If the need arises, we will certainly call him."
However, crime branch sources claimed there was a very remote possibility of Salman being summoned again for recording the statement in the same case.
