BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha on Wednesday embarrassed his party with tweets expressing his unhappiness at the suspension of 25 Congress MPs from Parliament and praising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as a "much respected leader".
"Feel unhappy about the developments in the Parliament..& the expulsion of 25 learned MP friends, including one who was not even present.. Good sense must prevail ..sooner the better," Sinha tweeted.
The actor-politician, in a separate tweet, said he was touched by Nitish's compliment "in calling me the pride of Bihar".
"I am fond of him as a friend and a much respected leader of the masses. Also, this exchange need not cause concern, alarm or jealousy among our people," Sinha said, apparently hinting at the growing unease in the BJP with his growing proximity to the Bihar CM. Sinha has met Nitish several times recently.
"After all, good behavior, shishtachar (courtesy), upbringing and family values will always matter in society. Political opponents are not enemies. We can differ in political views but there can be no personal enmity," Sinha said.
Sinha tweeted his views as Congress leaders led by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh protested in Parliament for the second day against the five-day suspension of 25 MPs obstruting Lok Sabha proceedings.
His remarks about Kumar coincided with the Bihar's chief minister's open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his DNA barbs against the JD(U) leader. There has been a speculation that Sinha has sought a JD(U) ticket for his wife to contest this year's assembly election, but this was immediately denied by Nitish Kumar.
