VARIOUS ORGANISATIONS of the saffron brigade took out rallies on Wednesday morning in various parts of the City and held prayers and Aarti as part of ‘Shaurya Diwas’ celebrations.
The date, December 6, marks the anniversary of demolition of the disputed Babri structure at Ayodhya and is celebrated as Shaurya Diwas by saffron-leaning outfits and Sadbhavna Diwas by the Congress. However, for the police and administration it means a day of tension and hard work.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad organised 28 Maha Aartis and rallies were taken out in 45 places in the City. They also plan to hold Maha Aarti and Dharma Sabha at Hanuman temple at Mukeripura, at Gangaur Ghat and at Bal Hanuman Mandir, Chhatribag. The Dharma Raksha Samiti, which is active in the Karbala Maidan and Gangaur Ghat, held Maha Aarti in the morning.
The Congress observed the day as ‘Sadbhavna Divas’. Youth Congress president Devendra Singh Yadav and other activists held prayer meeting at the Gandhi Statue and released white pigeons as a mark of peace. Yadav criticised the saffronties for attempting to spread communal disharmony among the people. They also organised a human chain on the occasion.
Some Muslim organisations are observing it as Black Day. A few leaflets condemning the demolition of the Babri Masjid were distributed near the Chhoti Gwaltoli mosque.
