The ship, which last docked at Mumbai, was highjacked about 55 nautical miles of Mogadishu in Somalian waters on Saturday. This is the second time that the ship owned by Five Seas Company and operated by Marwan Shipping Company of the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) has faced a pirate attack.

The request alert was mentioned in an interim report that the directorate of shipping issued on Monday. The directorate has also communicated the information to the International Maritime Bureau Piracy Centres in Kuala Lumpur and London.

The ship ‘MV Victoria’ — owned by a firm from the United Arab Emirates and leased under the World Food Programme — was on its way with 4,200 tonnes of sugar donated by Denmark to the war-torn country of Somalia.
