Former Shiv Sena Kolhapur district unit chief Rambhau Chavan on Friday resigned to the party and decided to form a seperate group of his own, he declared at a press conference in Kolhapur on Friday.
Chavan said that he founded Shiv Sena in Kolhapur city in 1986 and he was the district chief of Sena for 14 years. Chavan said, "I am resigning to Shiv Sena because I was aspirant for Lok Sabha candidature from Kolhapur constituency, but party refused me and gave ticket to another person who was not a Shiv Sainik." He said party leadership has not taken him into confidence and hence he decided to keep away himself and his group from campaigning.
He attacked Shiv Sena and said that as a "founder member" of Shiv Sena in Kolhapur district, "I built Shiv Sena strongly from grassroots level in the district."
"I have faith on thought of Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray and Saffron Flag (Bhagava) of the party, but every time at the election, party refused my candidature and gave chance to another person. I did not take it seriously and every time joined campaigning for the party," he said.
He said, "Due to my work, party won three-time Kolhapur assembly seat." After quitting Shiv Sena, he is going to form his own group in the district and "I will contest assembly election from Kolhapur (North)."
