Advocating a greater role for Shoaib Akhtar in the team, former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja has suggested that the pacer be appointed the vice-captain of the squad because of his combative approach to the game.
"You have to take initiatives in the sport as per the requirement of the era," he said.
"Coach Woolmer, Inzamam and Younis Khan are all batsmen so their thinking is different. It is important to involve an experienced bowler like Shoaib Akhtar for future strategy," he stressed.
Praising the Indian team for its excellent performance in the ODI series so far, Rameez asked the hosts to raise the level of their game and replace Salman Butt with Imran Farhat in the last game to be played on Sunday.
Rameez also said that being the captain of the side Inzamam should come at number five as he only has the experience to hold the innings in case of a top-order collapse.
