DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION has made all preparations to conduct free and fair Nagar Nigam election in the city on Tuesday (October 31). DM has also issued shoot-at-sight orders in prevent booth capturing and violence.

The entire city has been divided into 28 sectors, 14 zones and 6 super zones with appointment of magistrates. Polling parties have started leaving for their destinations along with ballot boxes and ballot papers from KP College ground this morning.
Remarkably, the votes in the civic polls would be cast through old method of ballot papers instead of electronic voting machine. District administration has declared public holiday on Tuesday in wake of polling scheduled to take place from 8 am to 5 pm.
Vehicles may be allowed to run but they would not carry voters in any case. DM Amrit Abhijat said that the police have been given shoot-at-sight orders against those indulging in violence or booth capturing. Several companies of PAC and RAF are being deployed to ensure a peaceful and orderly poll in the city.
Giving details about the steps being taken for peaceful polls, the District Magistrate said on Sunday evening that at 21 places barriers have been erected to check any illegal activities. Static magistrates have been appointed at 35 places of sensitive nature.

{{/usCountry}}A total of 89 videographers have been deployed to undertake the videography work on Monday and on the polling day to check violation of code of conduct.
Both the DM and SSP said that no interference in the normal poll process would be tolerated and nobody would be allowed to take the law in one's hands. They instructed all the candidates to follow the election code of conduct as well as the norms of poll publicity in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, taking serious note against heads of 17 departments for not making available their official vehicles for poll purpose, the city magistrate had lodged FIR against them on Sunday.
Poll observers
THREE ELECTION observers have been appointed by the State Election Commission to conduct the civic polls smoothly. The observers are: Harilal Pasi Additional Commissioner Azamgarh, NK Chaudhry Managing Director Social Welfare Department, Lucknow and MN Khan, Special Secretary, Housing and Urban Development. They are staying in the circuit house here.
