THESE WERE just some of the highlights on day two of the evaluation of answer sheets of UP Board. Though shortage of teachers at the evaluation centre was a major cause for concern, there were several other (mis)happenings that speak volumes. Even as the Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh alleges foul play and dubs it as a serious issue, Board and Shiksha Bhawan officials tried to downplay it.
Proceedings at the Rajkiya Hussianabad stand out. Here, as many as 17 evaluators were posted on duty to evaluate copies of Accounts. But two days have passed and just a single copy turned up. After waiting for two days, teachers of the said subjects were relieved from duty. Similarly, there is a dearth of teachers to evaluate copies of professional subjects as well. Officials claimed that the matter would soon be sorted out.
Similarly, at Aminabad Inter College, there was no teacher to evaluate some 4000 answer sheets of Home Science. Poor attendance of the evaluators was a common problem. Sources in the education department said that the incharges of various evaluation centers have demanded more teachers, as many evaluators have not turned up.

Teachers have been demanding hike in the payment for the last couple of years.
However, Board officials are not worried as they are confident that these are just initial days and attendance of teachers would improve as days pass.
Interestingly, Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh president RP Singh has alleged foul play.
“There seems to be some conspiracy involved.” Office bearers of UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh (Pandey group) have also raised questions on how such things happen. Both teachers’ bodies have demanded that anomalies need to be probed into.
