Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra held talks with Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti leaders on Thursday but they ended without any resolution of the land transfer issue.
“Nothing concrete has come out of the meeting as far as the restoration of the return of the land to the shrine board is concerned,” samiti spokesperson Tilak Raj Sharma said after the meeting.
He said the talks were inconclusive as Vohra refused to give them an assurance that the land would be handed over to the Amarnath shrine board. The governor “would be soon calling them for the second round of talks,” Sharma said.
The samiti was ready for talks but would continue their agitation “till the land is restored to the shrine board”, Sharma added.
There was no official statement on the talks till late on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Jammu witnessed massive protests on the issue and clashes broke out between police and protestors at several places on Thursday.
BJP plans Raj Bhavan dharnas
In New Delhi, the BJP has announced it was stepping up its agitation on the issue. “All state units including the BJP-ruled states will stage dharnas in front of their respective Raj Bhavans on August 11, 12 and 13 and protest the revocation of the land transfer order,” senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said.The party’s decision came after three MPs visited Jammu on the direction of chief Rajnath Singh.
