The expressway will remain closed for two more days in view of a Commonwealth Games cycling event on October 13.

Though the closing down of traffic from Noida to Greater Noida Expressway did not result in much chaos on Sunday, commuters faced major problems on Monday as the expressway was closed from both ends.

Traffic was thrown completely out of gear as service lanes and underpasses too remained closed.

Offices along the Expressway said their staff reported late for work because of the traffic jams. A.Anand, manager, Havells India Ltd, said: "Nearly 10 per cent of our staff reported late for duty due to traffic jams. These were mostly employees residing at sectors 82, 93 and near Sector 37 crossing. Most of them had to travel around 8 km more than the usual."

Savita Mehta of Amity University, said: "I had to cancel a meeting because of the traffic restrictions. I started from my Sector 21 Jalvayu Vihar residence around 8 am and reached office at 10:30 am. We have declared holidays for the next two days."
