Come next Monday, commuting woes of thousands of employees of call centres and other multinational companies based in DLF Cyber City may finally end.
According to a highly-placed source, a modern shuttle bus service by the name of 'Smart Ride' will ferry staff to and fro the Sikanderpur Metro station from November 15.
CCTV cameras in buses, smart card authorisation and online boarding system are some of the unique features.
The service is an initiative of private developer DLF and the Cyber City Welfare Society that entered into an agreement with logistics company Smart Ride for plying the shuttle facility as a last mile transport solution.
With the Delhi Metro service making inroads into the Millennium City, people have started switching over and firms have also reducing their fleet of buses and cabs.
The new air-conditioned semi-low floor CNG buses would pick and drop executives from the Sikanderpur Metro Station, DLF Cyber City and Belvedere Park between 7am and 8pm.
On boarding the bus, employees have to swipe the smart cards given to them by the logistics company to a GSM mobile device and will be allowed entry on receiving a confirmation message. The boarding will then get recorded in an online system. The tariff for the service has not been decided yet.
To begin with, the service might take off with a fleet of five to 10 buses. Depending on the response, more buses may be added. Also, there are plans to extend the shuttle service to the Dwarka Metro station later.
