Virtually agreeing with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pakistan today said the issues of Siachen and Sir Creek are "resolvable" but it required a "determined effort" by both countries.
"We also believe that Siachen and Sir Creek are resolvable and that the two countries should make a determined effort," Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told reporters here.
She made the observation while referring to Singh's remarks in Amritsar last week that it was possible to come to a meaningful agreement on Siachen, Sir Creek and Baglihar.
Aslam said Singh's comment had led to "a flurry of speculation" like the reports that two countries were close to an agreement on Siachen.
"There are all kinds of stories most of which are products of fertile imagination," she said.
The two countries have agreed in principle to demilitarise the world's highest battlefield but India insists on authentication of the current positions held by the respective forces to which Islamabad has not agreed so far.
Top defence officials of both countries would meet in New Delhi on May 23 to 24 to discuss solution to the Siachen issue.
