A more than 1100-member Sikh Jatha left for Pakistan on Monday to celebrate Baisakhi there through three special trains. The pilgrims, who left for Pakistan on Monday, were led by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) member Gurwinder Singh Shampura.
SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar said that the Jatha shall reach Gurudwara Panja Sahib on April 12.
After celebrating Baisakhi on April 14, it shall reach Gurudwara Nankana Sahib on April 15, reaching Lahore on April 17, where the devotees would pay obeisance at all the gurudwaras before returning to India after paying obeisance at Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib on April 20.
It may be mentioned here that 341 devotees were denied permission to accompany the Jatha.
Makkar attributed this to the delay on the part of the Indian government to forward the list of devotees to the Pakistan embassy.
