She is back with her talk show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal that was relaunched last Sunday. The elegant beauty spoke to HT City about the show.
Will there be any major changes?
We are not setting out to ‘be different’ just for the sake of it. This is the fifth season of Rendezvous..., so we have grown. We made some changes to the look — set and the packaging, but not the personal style that is the hallmark of Rendezvous…
What is it in Simi Garewal that has made her show reach new heights?
Rendezvous… is an extension of who I am. I’ve always had this intense fascination to try and ‘understand’ people, to know what they are about. I am fascinated to know what drives people, how they deal with life, failure, successes and love.
Maybe I am learning vicariously from them. And each new guest is different — they come with different histories, baggage and aspirations. I feel that doing the show has given me a greater understanding of people than I ever had before. So with Rendezvous I have also grown and changed.

{{/usCountry}}Having spoken to a number of stars, industrialists and sportspersons, how do you see the changes in the new age stars?
They have charisma. They are articulate and thinking people, easy on the eye and definitely personas that Gen X can relate to. There is a natural curiosity about them that makes viewers want to switch on their sets to watch them.
John Abraham was your first guest? How was it talking to him?
I had seen some of his interviews and there was much more I would have liked to know about him. So, when we thought of the season première — I was in no doubt that it should be with John. And he has given a great interview.
Is there any plan to make a comeback to films?
I do keep getting offers to do a film every now and then. If I find one ‘tempting’ enough to lure me back, I may just do it. I can’t say for sure. But right now I’m truly enjoying my show.
Which is your favourite talk show?
I really can’t choose. I think each talk show is different according to the style of the interviewer. Vir Sanghvi, Karan Thapar and Karan Johar all have different styles.
