After his family, it was Rahul Mahajan’s fiancee’s turn to defend him. “I have known Rahul from childhood and have full faith in him. He had never tasted any form of drugs, so the cocaine case was shocking news to me. I just could not believe it,” said Shweta Singh, a pilot with a domestic airline who got engaged to Junior Mahajan on Monday.
She also refuted media reports she was present at 7, Safdarjung Road when Rahul and Pramod Mahajan’s close aide Bibek Moitra were found in an unconscious condition. “I was flying to Chennai and was in mid-air around that time,” she said.
Shweta evaded most questions about his drug-abuse case and her father-in-law’s murder. “It was an unfortunate and sad incident and the police are doing a good job of the investigation,” is all she would say about Pramod Mahajan’s murder case.
On her engagement, Shweta said, “I’m feeling great. It’s truly a great feeling to belong to someone you know and have admired for so many years. But since it (the engagement with Rahul) had been already decided, I have personally not changed much after this," she said.
Hailing from Dehra Dun where she did her schooling, Shweta has been in Gurgaon for the last 10 years. Earlier she was living with elder sister Shubh before her parents moved in sometime back. Despite the fact the Heritage City complex on MG Road shares a common wall with the Metropolitan Mall — and there are more malls next to that, Shweta only occasionally frequents these places.

{{/usCountry}}“I hardly have any social life in Gurgaon. Because of a tight flying schedule, I hardly get time to go out," said Shweta.
About her fiance, she said he was a simple but passionate person. He loves cooking at times when he is in a good mood. I also enjoy cooking at home," said Shweta, who is a vegetarian.
“I leave it to him whether he would like to pursue a career in politics, business or even fly again.”
On the marriage date, Shweta said it was up to the two families to decide on it.
