Singer Bhupen Hazarika's condition stable

The legendary singer had suffered a mild celebral stroke but his condition was now stable.

Legendary singer and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Bhupen Hazarika, who suffered a mild cerebral stroke, was responding well to the treatment and his condition was "stable" on Tuesday.

The 80-year-old singer and music director had sound sleep on Monday night and took tea this morning.

His health is constantly being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, sources at Guwahati Neurological and Research Centre here, where he was being treated, said.

The sources said Hazarika had some heart problem too but was responding well to the treatment.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and All Assam Students Union advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjee visited the hospital to enquire about his health.

Hazarika suffered a mild cerebral stroke during a stage performance in Noonmati Bihutoli on Sunday night and was admitted to the GNRC on Monday.
