Singer declared a proclaimed offender

Singer Anuradha Paudwal was declared Proclaimed Offender (PO) by a local court here on Thursday after she failed to appear before it in connection with a 12-year-old copyrights violation case, reports Vishal Rambani.

The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class K.K. Jain declared Paudwal a PO, after she failed to appear before the court despite several chances given to her for alleged violation of the Copyrights Act.

A case had been filed against Paudwal in 1996 by Brij Mohan Bhardwaj, a resident of Katra Safed, for allegedly singing religious hymns from two books —Durga Stuti and Shiv Vivah —authored by his father Chaman Lal Bhardwaj without following the necessary formalities.

The same court had earlier issued non bailable warrants against the singer.
