SIT probe against Teesta Setalvad

A special court, hearing the 2002 Gulbarg society riot case, on Wednesday asked the Special Investigation Team to probe an allegation by Rais Khan, former coordinator of NGO Center for Justice and Peace, against social activist Teesta Setalvad.

A special court, hearing the 2002 Gulbarg society riot case, on Wednesday asked the Special Investigation Team to probe an allegation by Rais Khan, former coordinator of NGO Center for Justice and Peace, against social activist Teesta Setalvad.

The order was passed after Khan filed an affidavit saying he should be examined as a witness. Khan claimed he could throw light on how the witnesses were "tutored, cheated and made to sign false affidavits" by Setalvad, the NGO head.

The court asked the SC-appointed SIT, probing the riot cases, to record Khan's statement.
