A criminal case was registered on Wednesday against six policemen for allegedly beating up a woman while searching for a theft accused at Jolly village here, police said.

According to the victim, on Tuesday six police personnel entered her residence in search of a man, accused of theft. However, when they did not find him, they beat her up following which her leg got fractured, SP Sharad Sachan said.

Meanwhile, irate villagers on Wednesday blocked road in the village for several hours in protest against the police action.
