Heavy rains and strong winds pounded Pakistan's port city of Karachi for three days, toppling billboards, triggering power outages and leaving six people dead in separate rain-related incidents, police said on Tuesday.
The deaths occurred in various areas of Karachi on Monday and most were caused by electricity cables snapped by the storm, Karachi police chief Tariq Jamil said.
Among the dead was a 7-year-old girl who was crushed to death when the roof of her home collapsed on top of her in heavy rain in a Karachi slum, Jamil said.
Five men were electrocuted by snapped power lines in separate incidents in the city, where rain water flooded several busy streets and toppled trees and billboards, causing massive traffic jams.
Flooding also disrupted telephone lines and left several neighbourhoods without electricity for several hours before the services were restored late on Monday, Jamil said.
Heavy rains also have lashed other areas of Pakistan in recent days. In the rugged mountainous northwest, snow also fell.
