Six MLAs expelled in Rajasthan Assembly

Five Congress members and one from Lok Janashakti Party were expelled after they stalled the proceedings.

Rajasthan Speaker Sumitra Singh on Friday expelled six opposition MLAs from the Assmebly for the day for disrupting the proceedings as the issue of suspension of Congress meber Raghuveer Meena rocked the House for the third day.

Five Congress members and one from Lok Janashakti Party were expelled after they stalled the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha demanding withdrawal of Meena's suspension.

As the din continued, the opposition-sponsored 'no confidence' motion against the Speaker could not be moved.

Opposition leaders, who had given a "no confidence" notice against the Speaker yesterday, did not heed her when their name was called for discussing the issue.

The expelled MLAs were CP Joshi, CD Deol, Ashok Bairwa, Mahipal Yadav and Sanyam Loda (all Congress) and Ranveer Singh Gudha (Lok Janashakti Party).

Amidst the pandemonium, the Speaker called on the irrigation minister to table the demand for grants for his department which was passed by voice vote without any discussion.

Soon after the Speaker adjourned the house till Saturday.
