Six more arrested in Assam blasts case

Six suspected Bodo militants were arrested in connection with October 30 serial blasts that rocked Assam taking the total number of those held to 17.

Six suspected Bodo militants were on Sunday arrested in connection with October 30 serial blasts that rocked Assam taking the total number of those held to 17.

The police said one Panki Boro, a suspected ultra, was arrested from the Fatasil area of the city in connection with the blasts in Guwahati.

He was produced in the magisterial court which remanded him to 12 days in police custody.

Meanwhile, in a joint operation, the police arrested five suspected National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) militants from Naokata area of Baksa district for their alleged involvement in the blast.

One motorcycle and a pistol have been recovered from them and they are being interrogated.

Earlier, 12 people were arrested and over 40 people were interrogated in connection with the blasts that claimed over 80 lives.
