Six sentenced to death, another gets lifer in Bihar

The case pertains to a carnage in which 10 people were killed in Nalanda district about two-and-half years ago.

Six persons were on Saturday awarded death penalty while another was sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with a carnage in which 10 people were killed in Nalanda district about two-and-half years ago.

Additional district and sessions judge Bipin Dutta found them guilty of the carnage at Benar village under Sare police station in Bihar's Nalanda district on June 4, 2004.

The judge also slapped a fine of Rs five lakh on each of the convicts.

Those sentenced to death were Baiju Yadav, Mahesh Prasad, Dhananjay Prasad, Ajay Kumar, Vijay Prasad and Muneshwar Prasad.

Bipin Choudhary was sentenced to life imprisonment.
