Six washed away in floodwaters

Six persons were washed away in floodwaters of the Neerakatte dam near Uppinangady. While police fished out one body, efforts were on to trace the other five who went missing.

While police fished out one body, efforts were on to trace the other five who went missing.

According to police, the incident occurred when, following heavy rain, floodwaters rushed into the premises of the Sagar Mini Hydro Power Project, breaking a boundary wall, and washing away six persons inside.

The six, hailing from Nellur, in Andhra Pradesh, were employed as labourers at the power project.
