The recovery has thrown the police into an embarrassing situation as it falls between the old boundary wall demolished a few days ago and the new one.

The old wall was demolished to pave the way for widening of Damoh Naka – Adhartal road. Local CPI leader Yakub Ansari who saw the labourers involved in the digging work panic, said that the recovery from the old campus of the police station is very serious matter. A high level probe was needed to bring the truth to the fore, he said.

Gohalpur Area City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rakesh Singh admitted the skull and bones were recovered from the area, which falls between the new boundary wall and the old flattened wall of the police station. But, he said prima facie it appears that some persons have tried to play a mischief by placing the skull and bones, appearing to be 15 to 20 years old, to cause an embarrassment for the police.

When contacted, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Manohar Verma said the skull and bones would be sent to Gandhi Medico Legal Institute, Bhopal for examination. He said a graveyard had existed near the police station. Verma said an investigation has already commenced to get to the bottom.
