Twenty-two Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu, detained by the Sri Lankan Navy recently would be released in a day or two following the initiative taken by the Centre, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed informed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Friday.

The fishermen were detained on suspicion by the Lankan navy when they were allegedly fishing about one kilometre inside the Sri Lankan waters, the press release added.
