A slight intensity earthquake, measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale, shook Maharashtra's industrial town of Ratnagiri early on Monday morning.

The tremor was recorded at 1.59 am and was epicentred at a latitude of 16.8 degrees North and a longitude of 73.7 degrees East, the Met Office said.

There was no immediate reports of casualty or damage.
