It was noteworthy that university authorities had announced the date for conducting students union election on December 7, in ambit of the suggestion of Lyngdoh Commission but differences cropped up between members of university working committee and academic council members over the implementation of the suggestions and determination of age.
Working committee has returned the proposal to the academic council for reconsideration.
Condemning the attitude of the university authority on the election issue, the president of student union Rajiv Pandey demanded that suggestion of the commission would be implemented in totality and according to suggestion, election should be held within six week of the start of new academic session.
They threatened to launch an agitation against the university administration.
Expressing his views on this occasion, Dr Mahendra Rai blamed university authorities for creating confusion on the election issue to avoid the election.
He said the admission procession and process of issuing admit cards should be completed at its earliest. The hot exchange of views between them and election officer Prof Harishanker Shukla was subject to debate in the campus as Prof Shukla failed to response positively to the questions raised by student leaders.
