SLTPM seeks British intervention in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement submitted a memorandum to the British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, seeking United Kingdom's intervention in the island nation.

The Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement (SLTPM), an umbrella organisation of pro-Ealam parties such as the MDMK, PMK, VCK and CPI, on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, seeking United Kingdom's intervention in the island nation.

SLTPM coordinator P Neduamran of Tamil Nationalist Movement later told reporters that the memorandum was handed over to Mike O Connor, the British envoy.

Britain had "moral responsibility" in the issue by virtue of having ruled Sri Lanka for about 200 years and "should come forward to put an end" to the violence, Nedumaran, who was accompanied by MDMK leader Vaiko and PMK Legislature Party Leader G K Mani among others, said.
