Reports that actress Freida Pinto, who stars in the multi-Oscar-nominated Slumdog Millionaire, has split with fiancé Rohan Antao might not be true after all — for, according to sources, Antao is not Pinto’s fiancé but her husband.
The grapevine suggests that the couple had a secret wedding in Goa in December 2007.
The actress got her wedding gown made from a designer in Lokhandwala, telling the designer it was for her wedding. “Antao and Pinto were extremely close and have several common friends. Both were deeply in love with each other,” a source said.
“Antao and Pinto had decided to keep their marriage a secret till they felt ready to talk about it openly. Even though she has dumped her husband Antao now, he is not the kind who will go out and speak against her,” added the source.
Meanwhile, Pinto said she was keen to move to New York because the city “just feels like home”.
“There’s something about New York. It’s quite a lot like Mumbai in many ways, but it’s (Mumbai) not as organised as this city and obviously not as cool as New York. Everyone keeps asking me why not LA, but I don’t want to feel really homesick. New York just feels like home,” she said.
