Overweight policemen have been told to lost those extra pounds and smarten up. Also in the pipeline are communication skill courses for those posted in Faridabad and Gurgaon.

"I have sent letters to all district headquarters advising that our men who are overweight should go for exercise, lose weight so that they look smart and sophisticated," Haryana director general of police Ranjiv Dalal told HT on Wednesday.

The Faridabad police have now introduced a special parade that will include volleyball and yoga every Monday morning.

"We are strictly following this latest directive," DCP NIT (New Industrial Township) Praveen Mehta told HT.

"Due to tough duty schedules, most policemen do not go for regular exercise or games," Dalal said. "Now we want such policemen to take their health seriously."

The Haryana Police are also in talks with communication skill companies to smarten its policemen before the Games begin.

"Our boys should know how to say hello to the visitors during games," Dalal said.
