The four-month-long wait of the parents of two brothers who went missing in April this year finally ended when they got a call from Saathi, an NGO in Lucknow.
The boys ran away from their house in Nathurpur village near DLF City after the mother scolded them.
Nitesh Kumar, 13, and Abhishek, 10, had been living in an NGO shelter since then.
The parents initially thought they were kidnapped.
An error in registering their names at the NGO's office prevented the boys from being identified earlier.
The father, Manoj K Jha, is a security guard working with Birla Sun Life on MG Road.
In April, the boys had left the house saying they were going to play. When they didn't return for three days, the parents informed the police.
“We left because our mother scolded us and we were scared. We first went to Nehru Place by foot, and then took a bus to Old Delhi railway station.
Then we took a train to go to our hometown in Bhagalpur, Bihar,” said Nitesh Kumar, the elder boy.
Jha said luckily Saathi members spotted the boys on the train. “When they asked the boys where they had come from, the NGO discovered they had fled from home,” said Jha. They were then taken to Lucknow.
After three months, an NGO official asked Nitesh about his parents and the boy gave the address of his uncle in Jharkhand. The NGO then informed the police there and traced his uncle, who in turn informed the UP police.
