SAMAJWADI PARTY national secretary Ompal Singh Nidar said the possibility of mid-term Lok Sabha elections could not be ruled out, especially after the UPA Government “succumbed to US pressure” and voted against Iran.

Terming the decision as against the national interest, Nidar suggested that the Communist parties should show the door to the Congress, instead of taking to the streets. Talking to mediapersons, he said the Union Government’s decision was in violation of the Common Minimum Programme. Communist parties should reconsider their support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government, he said. He asserted 40 members of the SP would support any move by the Communist parties on the issue. Singh recalled that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had virtually issued a warning to the Communist parties not to cross their limits.
He added that the dictatorial attitude of Congress leaders hurt the feelings of the other coalition partners.
To a question, Nidar said the SP would soon fulfill the formalities for withdrawal of support to the Manmohan Singh Government.
Nidar also said the language used by UP Congress president Salman Khurshid was derogatory and SP workers would give a befitting reply to his remarks.
