An army soldier was critically injured when militants ambushed a convoy in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday.

According to officials, the army convoy was fired upon by militants near Drugmulla on Kupwara-Handwara road, 80 km from Srinagar.
A soldier was injured in the firing, while the militants managed to flee the spot, he said. "Half of the convoy had crossed the area when the attack took place," said army sources.
Sources say four soldiers also received minor injuries as the driver of the vehicle lost control over it.
A search operation has been launched to track down the assailants, the officials said.
This is the second militant attack within 24 hours. A police constable was critically injured on Friday evening in south Kashmir's Anantnag district in an attack by militants.
The police said militants fired at constable Abdul Rasheed near Junglat Mandi area, 54 km from Srinagar. A bullet pierced Rashid's face and he was rushed to Srinagar for treatment.
